What We Do: What is RIM?  |  Perfect Parts  |  Tooling and Details  |  Shop Tour

Even though it requires considerable expertise, our tooling is much simpler to fabricate than "hard" tooling for traditional injection molding.

Lead times are shorter, too. Manufacturing hard tooling can take many months. We can deliver your first production parts in as little as six weeks! Plus, our tooling is easier to modify than hard tooling, so design changes, even after delivery of first articles, are possible.

We CNC machine a master pattern from acrylic which can be used for sizing and checking. This acrylic pattern eliminates any guesswork as to design or fit. From the pattern, we build a composite epoxy-aluminum tool. We guarantee our tools for a minimum of 10,000 cycles.

We build the finest tools in the industry. Our proprietary ejection system opens the tool and ejects the part with no flexing or stressing. Our unique venting system with replaceable vents eliminates trapped air. We use aluminum inserts in our composite tools whenever there are small delicate details.

With RIM, changes in cross section thickness are no problem. Walls can vary from .250" to .750" thick within the same piece.   Molded-in metal inserts give you the added strength of metal, while threaded metal inserts guarantee a perfect fit from part to part.   This tiny paint groove surrounds an area intended for a mylar overlay eliminating paint buildup in the corners so the mylar lays flat.   Sometimes design changes must be made after the tool is finished. In this case, we modified the tool to add a standing base to the part.
